2014 so far

Turns out this year is going a little smoother since I last posted here. Which is real good. That was a little scary, no? No worries, I'm still alive. The good news is I got to take this thing off:

^^Why they named that thing Snow White is beyond me.

I didn't like feeling like a cyborg with all of that^^ hooked up to me. Also, it was nice to be able to shower again. I went into the doctor on Tuesday and as it turns out, I'm going to be just fine! My heart is healthy and I have nothing to worry about. Basically, this is what happened to me. Sounds like loads of fun, huh? My doctor also told me some things that I can do in case it happens again. I should probably write that down somewhere, yeah? Also I should try to avoid triggers like stress and excessive amounts of caffeine and chocolate. Hahahaa.

2014 hasn't been all bad so far. Here are some other things we've been up to lately:
-I've made some yummy juice. My new favorite is orange, carrot, cranberry and apple. Delicious!
-I had the best biscuits and gravy at Big City Coffee. We went there for our New Year's Day brunch. We were lucky it was open, since everything else downtown was closed. I love that place. If you live in Boise, get yourself down there. Their servings are ridiculous, so I recommend sharing a plate. The place is always packed, so you might have to share a table with strangers. Also, if they have them, order a salted caramel brownie. Yummm.
-We bought Bo a cape/coat thing. When I take him out in it I just laugh at him. It's funny because it's cute.
-It was freakishly warm yesterday so I walked over to Camel's Back Park with Bo. We even climbed the hill. Today it is snowing again. Go figure. I hate winter. There, I said it. Now be gone!
-We've successfully watched a  full season of Friday Night Lights. We started watching it when I was still strapped to that holter moniter and didn't want to be seen in public. We quickly became addicted, obviously. Binge watching shows is the only way to do it if you ask us. We enjoy making fun of Tim Riggins. And of course we love Coach Taylor. And Connie Britton is fabulous and I want her red hair. The end.
-We also watched the 2 hour premier of Downton Abbey. Tyler watched it with me even though he swore not to watch it again after the season 3 finale. Mwahaha! I don't know how I feel about it still.
-We've done more than watch TV this year, I swear. :)
-We got to go to the temple twice in one week, that was a treat. We did sealings with our ward on Tuesday. It was really neat being able to kneel across the alter from Tyler again. Yesterday morning we did an endowment session with family. There's nothing better than sitting in the Celestial Room with family members if you ask me!
-I survived a full week back at work after having an unplanned five day weekend. It was kind of a nightmare. The work week, I mean. Not the weekend.

2014 is going to be a good year I think. I shared this on Facebook and Instagram, but in case you missed it, here is my motto for the year:

I actually found this quote scribbled on an old church program tucked in my journal when I went to prepare a talk I had to give a few weeks ago. I'm real glad I found it because it ended up being the topic for my talk and I liked it so much I decided to make it my personal 2014 motto. Sometimes, okay every morning almost, I wake up grumpy and not excited to start the day (I'm really fun to live with), so this is my daily reminder to be happy. Life is good, really good, and I want to spend more of it being happy! Here is the full article The Spirit of Optimism from President Hinckley, if you're interested.

I really liked this blog post about setting goals to make ourselves happier. I really like her take on the whole New Year's resolution thing. I'm going to make a conscious effort to be happier this year and I have some personal goals of my own to help me with that. Maybe I'll share some of those here.

So here's to a happier and healthier 2014! (I know I'm a little late). I hope this new year is treating everyone well!
